Socca Canada Makes History at the 2024 Socca World Cup in Oman
From November 29th to December 7th 2024, Socca Canada made the trip to Muscat, Oman to compete at the 2024 Socca World Cup — our very first World Cup appearance in the history of the program!
Canada was placed in Group A alongside tournament hosts Oman, powerhouses Italy, Qatar, and the USA. It was an incredibly tough group, but our squad rose to the occasion and gave everything on the pitch in front of a sold out stadium — a moment none of us will forget.
Our group stage journey saw us take on four strong nations. We faced Qatar on Match Day 1, falling 0-3 in a competitive opening match. On Match Day 2, we went up against a formidable Italy side and lost 1-5, but showed plenty of fight throughout. Match Day 3 saw us face tournament hosts Oman in front of their passionate home crowd, going down 1-3. On our final group stage match, we faced the USA and were defeated 2-4, finishing our group stage campaign.
Although Canada did not advance out of Group A, the experience of competing on the world stage against nations like Italy, Qatar, Oman and the USA was invaluable. We finished the group with a strong determination to return — and return stronger.
The 2024 Socca World Cup was a landmark moment for Canadian socca. Every step we take is a step forward, and we are committed to growing this program and representing Canada with pride on the international stage. We look forward to what comes next!
