Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your information
Effective date: July 2, 2026
Socca Canada (“we,” “us,” “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use soccacanada.ca, how we use and safeguard it, and the rights you have. We operate in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1.Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to run the federation and its competitions:
- Account information: name, email address, password (hashed), and optionally phone, city, and province when you create an account.
- Registration & roster data: team name, manager contact details, player names, jersey sizes, and other details you provide to register a team.
- Payment information: card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — we retain only a transaction ID, amount, and status.
- Donations & newsletter: the donation amount and tier you choose, and the name, email address, and preferred language you submit to subscribe to the newsletter.
- Messages: the content you send us through the contact form or by email.
- Technical data: basic information your browser provides automatically (device type, pages viewed) needed for site security and correct operation.
2.How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account and team registrations.
- Process payments and donations and issue confirmations.
- Send you transactional emails (registration confirmations, account updates).
- Send you the newsletter when you have subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- Respond to your enquiries and provide support.
- Protect the site against fraud and abuse, and meet our legal obligations.
3.Consent (PIPEDA)
We collect, use, and disclose your personal information with your consent, which may be express (for example, when you subscribe to the newsletter) or implied (for example, when you register a team). You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual obligations, by contacting us at the address below.
4.How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that enable us to run the site, and only to the extent necessary:
- Stripe — payment and donation processing.
- Hosting and database providers (Vercel, Supabase) — hosting the site and storing data.
- Email provider — sending transactional emails and the newsletter.
- We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights.
5.Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, remember your language, and record your cookie preferences. We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies; if that changes, they will be enabled only with your consent. You can review and change your choices on our Cookie Settings page.
6.Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request deletion of your account by contacting us.
7.Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and hashing of passwords. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8.Your Rights
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Withdraw your consent or request deletion of your account.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your rights have not been respected.
9.International Transfers
Our service providers may store or process data outside Canada. Where they do, your information may be subject to the laws of the country in which it is processed. We select providers that apply appropriate safeguards.
10.Children’s Privacy
Participation in Socca Canada competitions is limited to persons 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
