Socca Canada Shines at the 2025 Socca AmeriCup in Rio de Janeiro

The 2025 Socca AmeriCup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was a massive success for Socca Canada!

Canada began their journey in Group C where we had to face Colombia, Mexico and Belgium in the group stage matches. Canada kicked things off with a historic 3-2 win over Colombia — our first ever victory in international competition! We were defeated by Mexico on Match Day 2, but bounced back with a strong 4-1 win over Belgium on Match Day 3, finishing as the 2nd seed in the group and advancing to the Quarter Finals.

In the Quarter Finals, we were drawn against the top seed of Group B in Peru. The match against Peru was the most exciting match of the entire competition, with both nations trading goals in a breathtaking contest that ultimately ended 5-5 after regular time and headed to penalties.

Unfortunately, penalties were not kind to us, and we were defeated 5-5 (2-3) in the penalty shootout, ending our journey at the Quarter Final stage of the 2025 Socca AmeriCup. Nonetheless, an incredible showing for Socca Canada on the international stage!

We look forward to representing Canada at the 2025 Socca World Cup this November in Cancun, Mexico!
